Construction started at Dun Aengus Stone Fort on Inishmore (Aran Islands) in 1,100 BCE, and straddles both the Bronze and Iron ages. It’s an amazing feat of engineering, and when one walks through it’s hallowed gates, it’s easy to see how simple it would be to protect this location.
