The Western Wall is the wall that surrounds the courtyard of the Temple Mount, on which the First and Second Jewish Temples were located. The Temple Mount is now home to the Dome of the Rock. The Western Wall is the holiest site of Judaism.

Thanks for the comment. I was lucky, because about two months after I returned, Israel was involved in fighting again. I’d suggest waiting for a period of calm and then going on a group tour, as its phenomenal.
